The Rules of Being a User

I know Tsunade has posted rules, but this is coming from DESI'S brain. They've been approved by Allowei and they will be changed in the future if needed.

I'm writing these rules hoping that at least a few people will read and go by them. I am definitely not the perfect GM and I have my flaws, as do ALL of the GMs on the team. We try, we honestly do. It may seem like we don't, but just because we're not doing things in the middle of prontera doesn't mean we are not doing things. So if you're a normal user, read these and try to follow them. We want everyone to have fun, but there's always a handful who feel they should terrorize other users and the GMs, whether it be hacking or just being rude.

--On the Server--

1. The big rule, respect everyone.
  • This means don't be rude by cursing at players and GMs and don't be offensive.

2. No killstealing or looting.
  • If a player has masskilled a family of porings, don't pick up their items unless they say you can pick them up. That's looting.
  • Same goes with killing monsters. A novice is happily poking a poring until it bursts, and you come along and just stab it. The novice gets angry. That's kill stealing.
  • If someone is attacking a monster, don't attack it a few times just to get their experience. That killstealing AND experience leeching.

3. Report bugs, don't abuse them.
  • If you find a bug, PLEASE report it to a GM. I know abusing it sounds wonderful, but it's not fair to other players, and it can get you jailed and possibly banned.
  • If you lose items due to a bug, there's a good chance you WON'T get them back. Please don't accuse GMs of 'stealing' your items and saying you'll 'report us for being a bad GM'. We are not supposed to give items back even if you have proof you once had them; chances are we broadcasted and posted on the forums about items bugs and that we try to fix them. If you ignore the warnings and lose your items, I'm sorry but we can't help.

4. Talking with a GM.
  • If you PM a GM and he or she does not reply, don't be rude about it and don't spam them. Ask again, nicely. Try to use good grammar, if you don't know english try and ask someone who knows YOUR language and if they know better english, maybe they can ask. If we can't understand you, we can't help. We try to understand the best we can. However, 'spekng liek tis n cusing us oute syng we r bad gmz' will get you ignored and/or jailed or kicked off the server.
  • On IRC: The same goes for speaking to a GM on IRC. The GMs usually have a "~" or a "@" symbol next to their name.

5. Asking questions.
  • YOU DON'T HAVE TO ASK A GM EVERY SINGLE QUESTION. You CAN ask other players. Ask friends if you can. Me, I am an assassin. I always AM an assassin. If you have problems with your skills and are a different class, I probably cannot help. I can try, but my help would probably..not be helpful. Same with the other GMs, unless they are the same class they may not be able to help with skills. (Being accused of not doing my job because I can't answer skill questions makes me mad)

6. Answering questions.
  • Maybe a GM is afk, so someone in prontera is asking how to do something. HELP THEM IF YOU CAN. Do not give them false information, and try to be nice about it. If they don't know the language you speak, try to have someone you know who knows their language to help. GMs have lives too and we can't be there every moment of everyday. PLAYERS NEED TO LEARN TO HELP EACH OTHER. Besides, if you don't help other players, what would be the point of you being a GM if you wanted to be one? The item/zeny access? Nooope, you don't become one just for that. It's to help players and enforce rules.

7. Do not accuse us of being fair or not.
  • Sometimes we punish people according to what *WE* see, not what other people THINK they saw. If we get enough complaints about something we'll do something about it.
  • This is mainly Killstealing and looting. People report KSers and looters CONSTANTLY. If the person you report does not get jailed immediately, don't PM us complaining about it. We are either warning them or 'patrolling the area'. If they continue doing it, however, they will be jailed.
  • IF YOU ARE JAILED, please please PLEASE do not spam our PMs saying it's mean, we're unfair, we're bad, etcetc blahblahblah. We are doing our job and trying to be fair. Getting rid of the troublemakers helps other players have fun, and I'm sorry but if you want to have fun too, DON'T BREAK THE RULES.
--IN PVP--

1. RESPECT.
  • Respect is the key to staying out of jail. Seriously.

2. Do not run from battle.
  • If you run from a PVP battle, which is using '@go' or using the warp NPC, you will be jailed if caught.
  • If you see someone doing it, PM one of us the name and we will try to patrol and watch closely. If the person does not get jailed immediately we are warning or lurking. If we catch them doing it they will be jailed.

3. Don't kill randomly.
  • If a person is standing up, that doesn't mean they want to fight you. Ask them for a 1 on 1 PvP. If they accept, then you can kill them. If they decline, leave them alone.
  • Don't PM me or any other GM saying this person should be jailed for random killing, blahblahblah. It's a risk you take going into PVP, because although this is a rule, people are going to ignore it and do it anyway. But we try to jail those we catch doing it. Patrolling PVP is like, the second worse part of being a GM. the first worse part is patrolling Clocktower Level 1 in Aldebaren. So if you're ignored, don't spam us. Assume we just don't feel like replying. Just because we don't reply doesn't mean we're not hanging around somewhere nearby.

More rules on this will be added. Extra notes will be added too as they come to mind. (when I started this I had it planned out now I forgot everything, lol.)
((if another GM edits this to add a rule/note, add your name somewhere next to it please n.n. so I don't get confused.))

(note 1: (From Desi! lol) Following each and every one of these rules does not ensure you will actually become a GM. but they will help make this server more friendly.)

Okay, I know there's been some issues with the PvP thing. People are saying enforcing rules on it is like making it the second Prontera. Concerning the fleeing the battle.. I say that it's not our fault someone else is chicken. They should just be pointed and laughed at. o_o Yeah, I know it's not nice to walk into PvP and be killed, but that's a risk. >_> And I'm not trying to start an argument so don't think I am. Just talking because I can. ^^;

Er.. Yes, I am repeating myself. Yes, I am PMSing. No, don't bring your PvP problems to me. >_>;

I would just like to state that if the GM's punish a player they should first listen to what the players have to say...Im not pointing any fingers or any names but there were times where i was accused of Ksing and Looting falsely by people who dont like me and when i was Jailed the GM paid no attention to me.

Im not sure if there has been a solution to this yet, heck i havent even been playin for a while
Just hope my opinion helps :ph34r:

Ok....well,....alright this was a situation like..2 days ago, but anyways, a guy came up and ksed another player, i asked him to, " Please stop ksing "....he didnt listen, he ksed the same person AGAIN, i asked him again politely...after that, he ksed another 2 people....( he was a sniper.... )...so i tell him " Stop fucking ksing or i will call a gm you little shit "..........can i do that? or does that come within conflict of rule #1?.......cuz i mean, if he doesnt stop i should like..be able to cuss his ass out....right?...

P.S ....after that he replied .... " Ks*upsidedown ? mark* ".......so ill jus take a pretty damn good guess that he wasnt very fluant in english...but what do i do in THAT situation....because these people who speak only pinoy, or whatever it is is really becoming a problem......and i gotta be honest, i have a big problem with it....in my opinion people who dont speak english shouldnt play these online games at all.....but then again, thats just me.....but, even if he DID speak english what do i do in that situation? report him?

I dunno. we all need to learn simple words like NO and STOP in like, multiple languages I guess. ~.~;

In my opinion a certain degree of English knowledge should be required to play games like this. I mean, most admins / GMs mainly speak English. So how are they supposed to talk to foreigners? Learn their language? No...that would be wrong. It has to be the other way around. Also there are not only English-based private servers, I am sure. I mean there are German ones, so I'm sure there are also private servers based on Spanish, French or asian languages (I happened to see many people from the Phillipines, actually). It's not that I don't like those people...it's just that it is pointless if you can't even talk to them, and sad. I mean if I joined a private server and couldn't even talk to the community...I would be very sad. But all they care about is playing the game, as it seems, and don't give a damn about communicating with the community, unless they come from their country (no offense, it sure it not like that for everyone...but still). It reminds me of the time in iRO when many many people from Thailand flooded the servers. It was very hard to talk to them, many were rude and just didn't listen (again there were exceptions and there were a few thai people I really liked).

In my opinion there should be some kind of rule, maybe. In case this problem gets too serious. I mean, not being able to use proper English is no excuse for KSing others.
